| In 1980 the Gamekeeper was transformed and made totally into one whole bar area: The stage area was raised and the
off-licence was no longer required; with the transformation the name of the premises was also changed to the one it is now commonly known as, "The Poachers".

| It had many different Licencee's over the years. John Thorne has to get a mention
as he was Licencee for twelve years in the late 70s early
80s. I shall take you from 80s to the present day. On July 5th 1993 I rolled into town (Gerry)
and waited three years for a re-development which made a world of difference. |

| We can now boast that The Poachers is probably one of the best community locals in the country (I did say probably). |

pints at The Gamekeeper, sadly we lost Emmey (left) last year. Kit (centre)
is living locally, whilst Dot (right) has gone to live in Dorset. |
